Tbilisi: city walks and culture

A good base for old neighbourhoods, museums, cafés and city life without changing hotels daily. Start with Old Tbilisi and Abanotubani, the Mtkvari riverfront and Rustaveli Avenue; choose museums by interest rather than quantity.

In summer, plan walking breaks and water; keep indoor options for rain. Old neighbourhoods have slopes and stairs, so check access with luggage, a stroller or reduced mobility. Confirm opening hours and access before a visit.

Batumi: coast and urban promenades

Combine the sea with a boulevard, squares and cafés. The old centre and promenade offer a city itinerary even without a beach day. Batumi is also a working port, not just a beach resort.

Summer beach travel differs from quieter walks outside the beach season. Rain and sea conditions can change plans; waterfront accommodation does not guarantee swimming weather. Use safe beach access and follow local warnings.

Kakheti: towns and wine culture

Choose it for wineries, history and a slower pace. Sighnaghi and Telavi are different starting points; add Bodbe or Tsinandali when they fit your route. The region is large, so avoid packing every stop into one drive.

Autumn winery interest often follows the harvest, but visits and participation must be confirmed with the individual producer. Account for summer heat. Arrange a driver for tastings and check hosting, meals and access separately.

Mountains: assess difficulty before scenery

Stepantsminda is a base for the Kazbegi area and Gergeti Trinity Church. Mestia in Svaneti is a different journey, with towers, museums and access to mountain trails. They are not neighbouring interchangeable stops.

Walking and winter activities demand different preparation. Snow, visibility and roads matter more than a fixed itinerary. Check route difficulty, guide and equipment needs, access and restrictions. No pass opening or precise driving time is promised here.
